I've recently made it onto the Big Mouth side of tiktok (don't ask me how because I don't fully know). I think part of the reason is that the show's last season is coming out on May 23. That's not the main reason I'm talking about this though. I'm talking about this because a lot of people have mixed reveiws on the show and I want to share my take on it.
First, in case you don't know what Big Mouth is because you're like me before this month, it's a 2017 animated sitcom about kids going through puberty. They talk about things like periods, body image, sexuality, and things like that. The main characters are around ages 12-14 which will make more sense later.
A good amount of people hate on the show and a good amount like the show. The main reason that people seem to dislike Big Mouth is that they see it as CP which I can understand, I mean just watch the first few minutes of the first episode. The show (as far as I've watched) seems to be mainly focused on how horny men and kinda women are. From the research I've compelled (TikTok and Google) I have found a more in depth reasoning for why people don't like Big Mouth. People say that the show is not funny and it also makes them uncomfortable. One article says,"It's indescribably inappropriate, aggressively uncomfortable and, at times, profoundly disturbing and upsetting." the site I used
My opinion on this show is that it is a good way to teach teens things about themselves. I also do not think anyone over 17 should be watching this show because it has kids doing some intresting things which is why people call it CP. The show is not absolutely horrendous but I also think it is very weird and uncomfortable to watch at times. I would give the show a 3/5. I can't say I hated the show because that would be lying but I will say that I'm more than happy to say that after this I will not be continuing the series.
In conculsion I think the show was made with a good intention but just seemed weird. I also can't wait to never have to research about Big Mouth again.
